Bella Vene’s Sensational Performance Earns Scoreless Draw for Women’s Soccer

OSWEGO, NY – Bella Vene (Deer Park, NY/Deer Park) made 16 saves for the Buffalo State women's soccer team on Wednesday afternoon as the Bengals played to a scoreless draw on the road against Oswego State.

  • Vene's 16 saves were a season-high, and the second-most saves in a single game in her career. She previously made 23 saves against New Paltz in 2021.

  • Oswego State had three corner kick opportunities in the opening 30 minutes, but the Buffalo State defense held the Lakers to just three shots on goal, which Vene handled well.
  • Vene finished the half with five saves to keep the game scoreless.
  • The Lakers upped the pressure in the second half, blasting 26 shots at the Bengals' goal.
  • Vene and the rest of the Buffalo State defense held firm against the oncoming barrage.
  • Oswego State had an opportunity to take the lead in the 87th minute, but a shot struck the right post and stayed out.
  • Vene made one final save in the 88th minute, her 11th of the second half.
