Volleyball Finishes Regular Season With Tri-Match

BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's volleyball team wrapped up the 2022 regular season in a tri-match with the University of Rochester and St. John Fisher. The Bengals fell in both contests.

  • Samantha Coakley (Lockport, NY/Lockport) led the Bengals attack with 11 kills.
  • Karlie Shaffer (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown East) dished out 14 assists while Riley Domin (Getzville, NY/Williamsville South) had 10.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The first set was a constant back-and-forth affair until the end.
  • Down 21-18, Fisher would rally off the final 7 points to earn the victory.
  • In the second set, both teams continued their rallies as there were four leads changed throughout.
  • Fisher would hold off the Bengals comeback.
  • In the final set, the two squads continued to fight until the end.
  • Lindsey DeBonis would notch the final kill for the Cardinals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  •  For the second time this season, the Bengals and Yellowjackets went into a five-game showdown.
  • The team would keep competitive through the first four sets, going back-and-forth in winning each.
  • In the final set, U of R gained control from the start.
  • After jumping out to a 3-0 lead, they would go on a 12-6 run to secure the victory.

  • The Bengals will travel to New Paltz on Tuesday for the opening round of the SUNYAC playoffs. Game time is 6 pm.
