BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's basketball team fell 64-51 against the Alfred University Saxons this afternoon at the Sports Arena.

• Tashawni Cornfield (Gowanda, NY/Putham) netted 21 points to lead the Bengal offense, to go along with a team-best nine rebounds and four steals.
• Brianna Smith (Oakfield, NY/Oakfield) chipped in 12 points and six rebounds for the Bengals.

 
How It Happened

• Alfred raced out to a 12-0 advantage early in the first quarter.
• The Bengals responded with three straight buckets to trim the lead to six.
• Alfred would finish the quarter on a 6-1 run.
• Buffalo State caught fire in the second quarter as they went into halftime down 30-25.
• In the third, Alfred pulled away and entered the last 10 minutes of play leading 55-37.
• Buffalo State outplayed Alfred in the fourth but fell short to takeover Alfred's lead.
