Women's Hockey Falls to #13 Cortland

BUFFALO, NY – Fanny Aneborn scored a hat trick to lead the visitors Cortland to a 7-2 victory over the Buffalo State women's hockey team in NEWHL action on Saturday afternoon at the Ice Arena.

  • The Red Dragons added a third goal before the intermission, as Emily Kromer pushedthe puck over the line after an initial shot from the point snuck past Auge.
  • Cortland added another goal early in the second period, with Amanda Gaffney netting from close range off an assist from Grace Schnorr.
  • Vanessa Willick (Williamsville, NY/Buffalo Bisons) cut through the Cortland defense and then Running Rabbit found Greene out in front of goal for a wrist shot to get the Bengals on the board five minutes into the period.
  • Aneborn added her second goal of the night on the power play in the final minutes of the frame to give Cortland a 5-1 lead.
  • Ursell scored a short-handed goal between the goalie's legs on a breakaway after a perfect long pass from Katie Sarich (Columbia, MD/Washington Pride) just twenty seconds later.
  • Aneborn completed her hat trick midway through the third period, and Cortland added another goal for the final tally.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Aneborn scored three goals on a team-high six shots on goal.
  • Mia Hlasnick also chipped in a goal and three assists for the Red Dragons.
