Men's Hockey to Host #8 Geneseo

BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State men's hockey team plays host to the No. 8 Geneseo Knights tonight at the Ice Arena at 7 p.m. The Bengals come into the game having won the consolation game of the Castleton Tournament in Vermont last weekend, defeating Franklin Pierce University by a 4-2 margin. The Knights enter the contest with a win in their most recent outing on Sunday, defeating visiting Williams College in overtime 4-3.

THE BENGAL REPORT

· Buffalo State owns a 5-4 overall record, including an even 2-2 mark in SUNYAC competition.

· Last time out, Connor Bizal (Elk River, MN/Boston Jr. Rangers) chipped in a goal and an assist to help the Bengals record the victory. The two points give Bizal 11 on the season, the most on the team and the second-most assists in the conference.

· Kerry Kruzel (Cumming, GA/Ogden Mustangs) recorded his first goal of the season against the Ravens, and the second of his career.

· The Bengals had two more successful penalty kills on Saturday, bringing their penalty killing percentage to 92.9%, tied for the seventh-best mark in Division III.

GAUGING GENESEO

· Geneseo carries a 6-3-2 record into tonight's affair and a 2-2-1 standing in SUNYAC play.

· Stefan Miklakos scored two goals against the Ephs, including the overtime winner, bringing his team-leading tally to seven this season. Miklakos is tied for the SUNYAC lead in goals with the Bengals' Tyler Vanuden (Fort Frances, ON/Finlandia University).

· Peter Morgan also found the back of the net in the Knights' last game, adding to his season total of 13 points, the leader in the category in the SUNYAC.

· Goaltender Matt Petizian will provide a formidable challenge for the Bengals, as his .941 save percentage is the second-best mark in the conference.

THE HISTORY

· In their previous 61 matchups, Geneseo holds a 39-15-7 edge over Buffalo State.

· The Knights won the lone matchup a season ago, winning 2-1 at home.
