BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State men's and women's basketball teams get set to take on Fredonia this weekend, with two Battle by the Lake points on the line at the Sports Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Eyes on the Bengal Women
-The Bengals (12-8, 9-5 SUNYAC) are coming off an impressive win over Oswego on Tuesday. The Bengals sit at third in the SUNYAC standings at the beginning of the weekend.

Katie Villarini (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) led Buffalo State against Oswego, scoring 21 on 8-16 from the field, while adding four rebounds and four assists.

Tashawni Cornfield (Gowanda, NY/Putham) recorded a career-high 8 steals and added 12 points in the victory.
-Villarini continues to lead the Bengals, and the SUNYAC, with 22.9 points per game.

The Breakdown on the Blue Devil Women
-Fredonia enters the weekend with a 10-11 overall record (5-9 SUNYAC). The Blue Devils are on a four-game losing streak and haven't won since a victory over Plattsburgh on Jan. 23.
-Katie Pitcher leads the team in scoring with 13.2 points per game.
-The Blue Devils average 57.8 points per game, but lead the conference with 19.4 turnovers per game.
The History
Buffalo State holds a 69-23 record over Fredonia all-time, with the series between the teams beginning in Buffalo State's inaugural season of 1965. The Bengals have won the last four games against the Blue Devils, including a 73-59 victory earlier this year.
Katie Villarini recorded a double-double with 36 points and 10 rebounds in the victory.
Eyes on the Bengal Men
-The Bengals (4-17 overall, 3-11 SUNYAC) bounced back from a 65-63 overtime loss against Oneonta on Saturday, defeating New Paltz 91-81 on Sunday afternoon.

Philbert Weekes (Brooklyn, NY/Lafayette) registered his fourth consecutive double-double against New Paltz, scoring 22 points and adding 18 rebounds. He leads the Bengals in scoring and rebounding at 14.1 points per game and 13.7 rebounds per game.
-Aaron Davils (Beacon, NY/Beacon) scored 22 points against the Hawks and dished out seven assists. His thunderous dunk with five seconds remaining put the finishing touch on the victory.

Marquell Boutwell (Liverpool, NY/Nottingham) finished with 10 points and had a career-high 16 rebounds.

-Fredonia enters the weekend with a 3-17 overall record (3-10 SUNYAC).
-The last win for Fredonia was against Buffalo State on Jan. 28, when Aaron Collins scored 28 points to lead the Blue Devils. Collins leads the team in scoring with 15.8 points per game.
-The Blue Devils average 67.5 points per game, but lead the conference with 18.8 turnovers per game.
The History
The Bengals have faced Fredonia more than any other opponent and hold a 121-33 record against the Blue Devils all-time. Fredonia defeated Buffalo State 82-75 earlier this season to snap a five-game winning streak for the Bengals.
