Men’s Basketball falls in season finale to Brockport

BROCKPORT, NY – Brockport pulled away from the contest with a 22-7 second-half run, as the Buffalo State men's basketball team fell to the Golden Eagles by a 76-66 score in the season finale Saturday afternoon.

  • Philbert Weekes (Brooklyn, NY/Lafayette) finished the season with his eighth consecutive double-double, pacing the Bengals with 16 points and 12 rebounds. He also becomes the first Bengal in over 30 years to average a double-double on the season (15.3 ppg., 13.8 rpg.)
  • Aaron Davis (Beacon, NY/Beacon) added 11 points and two steals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Bengals held serve for most of the first half, leading by as many as four points (29-25) after a Weekes layup.
  • Down 34-30 at the five-minute mark, Brockport went on a 14-4 run to finish the half, as the hosts led 44-38.
  • A Weekes dunk began the scoring in the second half, but Brockport stretched its lead to double-digits (52-42).
  • A Matt Parkinson (Springfield Gardens, NY/John Bowne) and-one capped a Bengal run as they trailed by just one (54-53) midway through the half.
  • That's as close as the Bengals would get, as Brockport stretched its lead with a 22-7 run over a seven-minute span, capped by a Jahidi Wallace 3-pointer.
