BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Buffalo State softball team capped a busy week on a high note, securing a 5-3 game two victory over Brockport, salvaging a Saturday afternoon road split. The Bengals fell to the Golden Eagles 8-7 in game one before recovering for the game two win.

INSIDE THE BENGALS BOX SCORE
- Oriana Castello (Pearl River, N.Y./Nanuet) went 2-for-3, scoring three runs and stealing a base.
- Sarah Congelosi (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central), Sophia Graczyk (Buffalo, N.Y./City Honors), and Deme Kellogg (Gansevoort, N.Y./South Glens Falls) each added a hit.
- Abigail Kruse (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) went 2-for-3 with a run batted in.
- Kayla Wolinski (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster) tallied a hit and scored a run, extending her hit streak to nine games after also tallying two hits in game one.
- Carli Bogue (Elba, N.Y./Elba) secured her fourth victory of the season with five strikeouts in a complete-game effort.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bengals once again took the early lead, with Castello scoring on a Brockport error and a Kruse two-out, RBI single into left field.
- Castello once again used her speed to add to the Bengal lead in the second. She stole third, and the off-target throw allowed her to score, increasing Buffalo State's lead to 3-0.
- In the fourth, Graczyk singled to right center. Three batters later, a Congelosi RBI triple to right field gave the Bengals a 4-0 lead.
- Bogue ran into trouble in the sixth inning, as Brockport loaded the bases with two out. The graduate student was able to strike out Catherine Johnson looking on a full count to end the threat.
- The Bengals then extended the lead to 5-0 in the seventh, as Wolinski tallied an RBI double to right field.
- Brockport finally broke through in the seventh, scoring on an Emily Willis-Nersinger three-run double.
- Bogue recovered, striking out back-to-back Golden Eagles to secure the win.
FOR THE FOES
- Willis-Nersinger tallied two hits and drove in three runs.
- Cameryn Duggan went 3-for-4 with a run scored.
- Megan Van Dorn fell to 0-3, allowing three earned on 3 2/3 innings pitched.

- Ella Susi (Lakeview, N.Y./Frontier) had a no-decision in her start, pitching 2 2/3 innings.
- Olivia Carr (West Falls, N.Y./East Aurora) took the loss in relief, falling to 5-5 after allowing five earned in 3 1/3 innings, striking out three.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bengals tallied a first-inning run, as Congelosi struck an RBI single to right center field, scoring Castello.
- Brockport tallied two in the bottom of the frame to take the 2-1 lead.
- The Bengals retook the lead in the second inning, with consecutive run-scoring hits by Castello, Congelosi, and Wolinski, as the Bengals led 4-2.
- Brockport inched closer, trailing 4-3 after Willis-Nersinger tallied a run-scoring double in the third.
- Buffalo State extended the lead in the fourth, as Castello launched the first home run of her career, a one-out, solo shot to right center field which gave the visitors a 5-3 advantage.
- Brockport added a run in the fifth, as the Golden Eagles trailed 5-4.
- Wlostowski began the sixth reaching on an error, advancing to second. Congelosi made Brockport pay two batters later, as she drove in a run on a single to right field.
- Parsons then singled in Congelosi with a shot up the middle, as the Bengals led 7-4.
- Brockport stormed back in the later innings, getting a run in the sixth.
- Down two runs in the seventh, Annie DiPirro tied the game with her single up the middle.
- Two batters later, Hannah Jacobs walked it off for Brockport with her run-scoring single to right field.
FOR THE FOES
- Duggan led Brockport with a 3-for-3 performance, scoring four runs.
- Johnson earned the victory in relief, pitching a scoreless seventh to improve her record to 2-6.
