Volleyball Closes Out Case Western Tournament

CLEVELAND, OH – The Buffalo State volleyball team wrapped up the Case Western Tournament on Saturday, defeating Medaille College before falling to Case Western at the Horsburgh Gymnasium.
 
GAME ONE BASICS  

FINAL SCORE: Buffalo State – 3, Medaille – 0
SET SCORES: 25-22, 27-25, 25-14

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE  HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • The first set was a constant back-and-forth effort. The Bengals broke way after a service error from Halle Bogas of Medaille to secure the win.
  • Buffalo State started out the second set on a 14-8 run.
  • Medaille gradually closed the gap to take a 25-24 advantage.
  • The Bengals railed for three consecutive point thanks to Ryan and Scichilone to take a 2-0 lead.
  • Buffalo State dominated the final set. The team went on an 8-0 run and never looked back, securing the match.
FOR THE FOES
  • Bogas and Baylee Romano each had eight kills for Medaille.
  • Avery Ang had 12 digs for the Mavericks.

  • Mergler tallied eight kills while Coakley added six of her own.
  • Jenna Hugenschmidt (Clarence Center, NY/Clarence) had 14 digs for Buffalo State.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Case Western took the first set against the Bengals.
  • Buffalo State fought back in game two but fell short as the Spartans went up 2-0.
  • The Bengals refused to go down without a fight as they forced Case Western into a deep third set. Buffalo State fell short, 27-25, in the final set.
FOR THE FOES
  • Jennifer Ngo led the Spartans with 11 kills.
  • Alyssa Blessinger had 14 digs.

UP NEXT
The Bengals will finally return home for the first time this year as they battle Nazareth on Wednesday at 7:00 PM in the Sports Arena.
