Men's Basketball On the Road for Pair of SUNYAC Contests

BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State men's basketball team is on the road this weekend, heading east to take on New Paltz on Friday at 7:30 p.m., and Oneonta on Saturday at 4 p.m.

EYES ON THE BENGALS
  • Buffalo State enters play for the weekend with a 1-15 overall record (0-10 SUNYAC) after falling to Fredonia by a single point, 71-70 on Friday night at the Sports Arena.
  • Since the start of 2023, Matt Parkinson (Springfield Gardens, NY/John Browne) is averaging 17.0 points per game, while shooting .527 shooting percentage from the field. The sophomore guard has also shot nearly 53% from downtown in those five games.
  • Buffalo State grabbed 17 offensive rebounds, and 41 total rebounds against Fredonia, both the second-highest totals of the season for the Bengals.

  • The Hawks have an 8-8 overall record (6-4 SUNYAC) after falling to Oswego State in their last game on Saturday by a final score of 106-75.
  • Rylan Blondo leads New Paltz, and is third in the conference, with 17.4 points per game this season. Teammate Tyreik Frazier is shooting a conference-leading mark of 60% from the field for the year.
  • New Paltz has done an excellent job of punishing opponents for their fouls, converting at the free throw line at a 72.6% clip for the season.
 
RESEARCHING THE RED DRAGONS
  • Oneonta enters the weekend with an 11-6 overall record (7-3 SUNYAC) after defeating Cortland 72-64 on Saturday afternoon.
  • Oneonta leads the conference on the offensive glass this season. Led by Joseph Bull's 3.4 offensive rebounds per game, the Red Dragons haul in 15.6 offensive rebounds per game.
  • Oneonta allows just 64.2 points per game, the second fewest in the conference.
 
THE HISTORY
  • Buffalo State holds a large 37-17 edge over New Paltz since 1991, but the Hawks came away with a 75-65 win earlier this season.
  • The Bengals are 32-20 against Oneonta since 1991, but have lost seven consecutive games to the Red Dragons, dating back to the 2018-19 season.
