GENEVA, NY – JB Almontaser (Lackawanna, NY/Lackawanna) scored an incredible goal to give the Bengals the lead in the first half, but host Hobart responded with a late goal in the first half, and a goal in the second half to defeat the Buffalo State men's soccer team by a score of 3-2 in non-conference action on Tuesday evening.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Almontaser netted his second goal of the season, after also scoring on an Olympico goal earlier in the year.
- Yousif Kowa (Buffalo, NY/Hutch Tech) netted his fifth goal of the year, while Nacho Caceres (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay) provided an assist.
- Max Shoemaker (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Wheatfield) took the hard-luck loss in goal, making seven saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hobart netted the opening goal just over three minutes into the contest, after a bouncing ball fell right to the feet of Frederick Madsen.
- The Bengals responded less than two minutes later, as Caceres sent a corner kick in from the left side, which Kowa redirected with his head past the goalkeeper.
- Marcos Ortega (Pasto, Columbia/San Francisco Javier) had a great chance to score denied by a strong save from the Hobart keeper, stopping a deflected shot that was headed for the bottom right corner of the net.
- Almontaser gave the Bengals the lead in the 29th minute, hitting a perfect curling shot into the top right corner of the net off a half volley from outside the penalty area.
- The Statemen equalized with just 13 second remaining in the half to make it 2-2 at halftime.
- Ali Mohamed (Lackawanna, NY/Lackawanna) hit a free kick from a dangerous area just over the crossbar 10 minutes into the second half.
- Minutes later, Hobart took the lead once again on goal by Chris Friedlander after cutting inside to create separation.
- The Bengals attempted to equalize, but were unable as the Hobart defense stiffened.
FOR THE FOES
- Guillermo Castaneda Chang made four saves in goal for the Statesmen, while both Madsen and Friedlander each had a goal and an assist.
