LOCATION: Ice Arena – Buffalo, NY

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
  • Parker Allison (Dallas, TX/Neepawa Natives) scored the first and last goals of the night for the Bengals.
  • Anthony Morin (Greenfield Center, NY/Utica Jr. Comets) also netted a goal for Buffalo State.
  • Deacon's goal was the first of his collegiate career, and he also registered an assist.
  • Freshmen Andrew Langlois (Aurora, ON/Cornwall Colts) and Jake Meure (Fremont, CA/Ogden Mustangs) both had their first collegiate points with assists.
  • Marcus Cumberworth (Surrey, BC/Olds Grizzlys) stopped 26 shots in goal to earn his first victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After the Monarchs took a pair of penalties, including a five-minute penalty, Allison one-timed a slap shot from the top of the left circle to the right corner of the net to take advantage of the 5-on-3 power play. Aidan LaValley (Champlain, NY/Vermont Lumberjacks) and Joe Glamos (Baldwinsville, NY/New Jersey Titans) both picked up assists.
  • The Bengals doubled their advantage with another power-play goal in the second period, as Morin poked a loose puck behind the goaltender into the back of the net.
  • King's responded two minutes later, scoring a wrap-around goal off an initial shot that was off target.
  • With just over three minutes remaining in the frame, the Monarchs tied the score on a 5-on-3 power play with a shot from the point that beat Cumberworth.
  • The teams went in to the dressing room tied at 2-2.
  • Deacon's game-winning goal came from a tight angle in the low right slot, after a perfect cross-ice feed from Michael McCosh (Glendale, AZ/New Mexico Ice Wolves).
  • After the Monarchs pulled their goalie in search of an equalizer, Allison sealed the victory with an empty-net goal from inside his own zone with under a minute remaining.

FOR THE FOES
  • Patrick Nowak and Casey Gerstein netted goals for King's, while Ethan Hersant and Kevin Martin each were over 50% on faceoffs for the Monarchs.
