BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's volleyball team swept the Fredonia Blue Devils in three straight sets this evening at the Sports Arena. The Bengals also took the lead in the annual "Battle By The Lake" competition with Fredonia.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Ella Wittman (Cheektowaga, NY/Springville Griffith) led the team with 12 kills.
- Erin Mergler (Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) added 10 kills of her own.
- Riley Domin (Getzville, NY/Williamsville South) dished out 18 assists for the Bengals.
- Adi Vergara (Rio Grande, Puerto Rico/Kingdom Christian) was strong on defense tallying 21 digs.
- As a team, the Bengals have now won seven of their last eight overall matchups.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buffalo State took the lead early in the first set after going on a 7-1 run.
- The Bengals held strong the rest of the way; however, the Blue Devils went on a 9-3 run to try and climb back into the action.
- Wittman was able to finish the first set with a kill to get the Bengals started.
- Buffalo State dominated in the second set.
- After an early 9-0 run, the Bengals were able to runaway with the second set which was ended following a set error on Fredonia.
- The Bengals had all the momentum in the final set, tallying nine of the last 12 points to earn the third and final set.
- Buffalo State had 43 kills while the Blue Devils had 26.
FOR THE FOES
- Gabrielle Sordetto led the Blue Devils with eight kills.
- Olivia Boswell had 21 assists in the effort.
