BROCKPORT, NY – Ella Wittman (Cheektowaga, NY/Springville Griffith) led recorded double-digit kills for the 14
th time this season, but it wasn't enough for the Buffalo State women's volleyball to avoid defeat at the hands of fourth-seeded Brockport in the SUNYAC First Round on Tuesday evening.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Wittman recorded 10 kills on 22 attacks, while registering a .227 hitting percentage.
- Adi Vergara (Rio Grande, Puerto Rico/Kingdom Christian) led the Bengals with 17 digs.
- Karlie Shaffer (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown East) totaled 12 assists and seven digs.
- Riley Domin (Getzville, NY/Williamsville South) dished out eight assists and recorded a pair of service aces.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- With the score tied at 4-4 in the opening set, Brockport went on a 7-0 run to take a 11-4 lead. Buffalo State battled back, and pulled to within three thanks to a kill by Wittman and a service ace by Jenna Hugenschmidt (Clarence Center, NY/Clarence) as part of a 6-1 run.
- The Golden Eagles were able to regain momentum, and closed the opening set on a 11-4 run.
- Back-to-back kills by Wittman and Nicole Delli Colli (Rye, NY/Rye) gave the Bengals a 5-4 lead early in the second set, before Brockport won five of the next six points to re-take the lead.
- Brockport extended the lead to as many as seven, but back-to-back points from the Bengals, including a service ace from Eden Harrison (Eldersburg, MD/Century) brought the lead down to five.
- The Golden Eagles won the final point of the set to take a two-sets-to-none advantage.
- Brockport never trailed in the third set, and opened up a nine-point edge at 19-10 in the third set.
- The Bengals responded with a 6-0 run that included a pair of aces from Domin and kills by Wittman and Erin Mergler (Amherst, NY/Williamsville North).
- Brockport won six of the final eight points of the set to take the match.
FOR THE FOES
- Jordan Thompson had 15 kills to lead Brockport, and recorded 14 assists as well.
- Elsie Logan had 20 digs, while Kaitlyn Jewett dished out 44 assists.
SEASON WRAP UP
- Buffalo State finished the season with a 16-12 overall record, reaching the SUNYAC Playoffs for the third consecutive season.
- The 16 wins for the Bengals are the most in a season since 2014.
- Buffalo State finished with a 5-4 record in SUNYAC play, the best record in conference action since 2013.
