ROCHESTER, NY – The Buffalo State softball won game one in a slugfest by a final score of 11-8, and fell in the second game, 7-4, as the Bengals split a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon.
INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORES
- Sydney Bielicki (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) went 5-for-8 for the day, including 4-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored in game one.
- Olivia Kowalik (Amherst, NY/Amherst) and Madison Lucas (Oakdale, PA/West Allegheny) both hit their first collegiate home runs.
- Kayla Wolinski (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) went 3-for-8 for the day, with a home run, triple, and three RBIs.
- Jenna Wlostowski (Lancaster, NY/Alden) went 2-for-5 with a triple and three RBIs.
- Deme Kellogg (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls), Sarah Congelosi (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central), Abigail Kruse (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) and Sydney Shuta (Newburgh, NY/Marlboro) each had two hits.
GAME 1 BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buffalo State struck for three runs in the first inning, as Kruse recorded an RBI single, and Lucas followed with a two-run homer to right field.
- Wolinski's RBI triple and another RBI single by Kruse made the score 5-0 in the top of the third inning.
- The Bengals scored two runs in the fourth, while the Golden Flyers responded with a run of their own to make it 7-1.
- Buffalo State extended the lead to 11-1 thanks to RBI hits from Kellogg and Wlostowski, as well as a two-run double by Bielicki.
- Nazareth clawed back into the game with six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning thanks to six hits in the inning.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Nazareth scratched across one run, before Lucas shut the door to complete the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first inning, Nazareth struck for a pair of runs in the second inning on two home runs in the frame.
- The Golden Flyers scored two more runs in the third inning, before the Bengals struck for four runs in the top of the fourth to tie the game.
- Wolinski hammered a homer to center to lead off the inning, and Kowalik blasted a home run to left center two batters later. Wlostowski's triple four batters later drove in Erin Paolilli (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) and Shuta to tie the score at 4-4,
- Nazareth scored a run in the bottom half of the inning to regain the lead, and tacked on a pair of runs in the fifth for a 7-4 advantage.
- Buffalo State was unable to make a comeback in the final two innings, falling by the final 7-4 score.
