BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's soccer team earned a hard-fought scoreless draw against defending SUNYAC regular season champion Cortland on Saturday afternoon on Coyer Field.

- Sam Kaufman (Cheektowaga, NY/West Seneca East) made seven saves to earn a clean sheet in goal.
- Carm Mercurio (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) and Heather Moriarty (Mount Morris, NY/Keshequa Central) each had goal line clearances to keep the game scoreless.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cortland started fast and had an early opportunity that went off the crossbar in the seventh minute.
- Kaufman made a huge save in the 20th minute, sticking her arm out to stop a shot and direct the ball out of danger.
- The Red Dragons had their best opportunity in the final seconds of the first half, but Mercurio made a team save to deny Keara Johnson's header at the back post to keep the game scoreless into halftime.
- Cortland came out swinging in the second half, but a pair of huge saves by Kaufman in the opening seven minutes kept the Bengals in the game.
- In the 75th minute, Moriarty came back from her center back position for another clearance at the goal line to deny Cortland's Julia DeTurris.
- As Cortland pressed for a goal in the final minutes, the Bengals' defense stood strong to keep the game level.
- The final Cortland chance came with four seconds left, as Simone Nievel's shot hit off the bottom of the crossbar and back into play as time ran.
FOR THE FOES
- Cortland had 28 shot attempts, and nine shots on target in the contest.
- Kristen Spendal made one save in goal for a clean sheet.
