HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bengals led 15-9 in the opening set, before Pitt Bradford responded to tie the score at 24-24. After a Bengals' timeout, Buffalo State won the final two points on a kill by Samantha Coakley (Lockport, NY/Lockport) and a Panthers' attack error.
  • Trailing 17-15 in the second set, Buffalo State used a four-point run that included a kill by Niaya Vohland (Lockport, NY/Lockport) and an ace by Coakley to take a 19-17 lead. Kills by Delli Colli, McCartney Geartz (N. Tonawanda, NY/N. Tonawanda), and Delaney McCarthy (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) helped the Bengals close out the second set.
  • Buffalo State raced out a 13-3 lead in the third set. The Panthers responded with a 10-1 run to close the gap, then eventually took the lead at 22-21.
  • Buffalo State won three straight points to set up a pair of match points, but the Panthers fought them both off. A bad set by a Pitt Bradford player, and Riley Domin's (Getzville, NY/Williamsville South) service ace gave the Bengals a 26-24 victory.
