CORTLAND, NY – The Buffalo State women's hockey team dropped a 9-0 decision to No. 15 Cortland on Friday evening in the opening game of 2024.

- Emma Ramseier (Oak Creek, WI/Milwaukee Jr. Admirals) and Vanessa Willick (Williamsville, NY/Buffalo Bisons) each had four shots on goal to lead Buffalo State.
- Jessica Auge (Laingsburg, MI/Honeybaked Detroit) stopped a season-high 56 shots in goal for the Bengals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bethany Horvatits (Elma, NY/Cazenovia Chiefs) was stopped on a breakaway early in the first period with a chance to give the Bengals an early lead.
- Buffalo State killed off the first power play of the game for the Red Dragons, but the Bengals took another penalty shortly after, allowing the hosts to capitalize for a 1-0 advantage.
- Just over a minute later, Cortland doubled its advantage on a rebound to take a 2-0 edge into the intermission.
- The hosts scored a third goal just over four minutes in the second period, then added a fourth goal at 13:08 of the frame, leading 4-0 into the second intermission.
- The Red Dragons scored five times in the third period to seal the game, including three goals in the span of just over two minutes.

- Meggan Cramer and Jillian Hlasnick each scored twice to lead Cortland.
