BUFFALO, NY – Diego Rivera (East Meadow, NY/Cairo Durham) of the Buffalo State men's soccer team and Ella Wittman (Cheektowaga, NY/Springville Griffith) of the Buffalo State women's volleyball team have been named Bengal Athletes of the Week for their respective performances this past week.
 
Rivera, a junior childhood education major, had a pair of strong performances in wins over Fredonia and Plattsburgh. In Wednesday's win over the Blue Devils, Rivera scored the lone goal for his 12^th of the season. In Saturday's win over the Cardinals, Rivera added another goal and assisted the game-winning goal to help the Bengals keep their undefeated season alive.
 
The men's soccer team is back in action tomorrow as they host the Oneonta Red Dragons at 3:00 pm.
 
Wittman, a sophomore math education major, had a strong week for the Bengals as they stayed unbeaten in conference play with wins over New Paltz and Oneonta. In Friday's win against the Hawks, Wittman had 15 kills with 12 digs and a pair of blocks as they Bengals defeated New Paltz for the first time in over a decade. In Saturday's sweep over the Red Dragons, Wittman added nine more kills with four service aces, 13 digs, and a .409 attack percentage.
 
The women's volleyball team returns to action Saturday as they travel to Fredonia for a "Battle by the Lake" matchup at 1:00 pm.
