HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Heading down the home stretch of their last two games before winter break, the Bengals looked to snap their losing streak and head into the holiday season with some cheer. In the first quarter, things didn't look too good for the Bengals as a rough shooting stretch saw them go down by eight-points. While the Bengals fought to keep this game from getting out of hand, it would look to be a struggle as they ended the first quarter down by ten points. The Bengals shot 10.0% in the quarter.
  • The second quarter saw the Bengals come out with some more fight, collapsing the Hawks lead to single digits, with the momentum on their side. After a 10-0 run by the Bengals, the Hawks lead of four-points, was within striking distance but credit to the Hawks on holding on strong and taking the halftime lead up six points. The Bengals shot 37.5% in the quarter.
  • Coming out of halftime, the Bengals started off hot, started their best stretch of basketball at the right time. Ripping off a 10-0 run once again, the Bengals snatched the lead from the Hawks with their foot on the drivers pedal to take this game! However, the Hawks would do their best to stay in this game, trading baskets with the Bengals throughout the third quarter, before taking a one-point lead, with both teams looking to end it in the fourth quarter. The Bengals shot 50.0% in the quarter.
  • The fourth quarter was all Bengals, going on their third 10-0 run to take the lead but most importantly, stifling down on the defense end as the Hawks struggled to answer the Bengals offensive attack. The defense effort and some hot shooting from the Bengals would finally propel them ahead of the Hawks, claiming victory in this non-conference matchup.
FOR THE FOES
  • Kayla Johnson led the Hawks with 17 points, with Kelsey Schlagenhau and Kylie Morgan each grabbing nine rebounds.
