INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
· Grace Albano (N. Tonawanda, NY/Niagara Wheatfield) recorded the lone Buffalo State hit.
· Izzy Pezdek (Lancaster, NY/Grand Island) pitched the first 2.2 innings, allowing three earned runs, while Kaitlyn Schnitzer (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) tossed the final 3.1 innings in relief, allowing just one earned run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
· The Bengals were retired in order in the first three innings, but Pezdek pitched well to keep Cortland off the board in the first two innings.
· In the bottom of the third, the Red Dragons struck for three runs on two hits, two walks, and a hit by pitch to go up 3-0.
· With one out in the fourth, the Bengals got their first baserunner on a walk to Mya Hurley (Amherst, NY/Amherst). However, Hurley was stranded on first base after a lineout and a flyout.
· Cortland scored twice in the fourth inning by taking advantage of two Buffalo State errors to go ahead 5-0.
· The Red Dragons completed the scoring with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning on an RBI double by Julz Koch.
· Albano singled to center in the top of the sixth to break up the no-hitter, but that was the last baserunner for the Bengals, as the next two hitters in the inning and the three batters in the seventh were retired.
FOR THE FOES
· Kim Westenberg pitched the complete-game one-hitter for Cortland, and also went 1-for-2 with a walk at the plate.
