Women’s Soccer Captures First Home Win of the Season

BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women's soccer team dominated in their first home win of the season against the Houghton University Highlanders.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
  • Olivia Kilmer (Hammondsport, NY/Avoca) led the team with two goals today for the Bengals, a career mark for the freshman.  
  • Taylor Clisson (Syracuse, NY/Solvay) held down the fort in between the goal, with a career-high eight saves!
 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bengals were in a fight for their lives early, as the Highlanders netted the first goal of the day within the first 25 minutes of play. The Bengals scored an equalizer to keep the game even, but the Highlanders answered back and went into halftime with the lead.
  • However, as the second half began, there was a new life in the Bengals as they answered with a tying goal from Kaylee Valentic (North Tonawanda, NY/ North Tonawanda) and carried the momentum all the way to the finish.
  • The Bengals would go on to score three unanswered goals for the second half, including a GORGEOUS goal from Halle Conrad (Youngstown, NY/ Lewison-Porter) in the 73rd minute.
  • The Bengals outshot the Highlanders 18 to 17 for the game with 12 shots on goal.  
 FOR THE FOES
  • Rileigh Studley and Abigial Nuzzo both netted a goal for the Highlanders.
  • Preslee Miller finished a complete game with seven saves in net.
UP NEXT
The Bengals will take on one more non-conference match up before SUNYAC play begins, as they play host to the St. Lawrence University Saints Saturday at 11:00 A.M.
