THE MATCHUP… Buffalo State aims to head into the bye week on a strong note as they will head to RPI for another Liberty League contest. The Engineers hold a 7-1 series advantage after a 48-7 victory a year ago.
THE BENGALS' LAST GAME… Buffalo State fell to Union last time out in their Homecoming matchup with a final score of 28-6.
Amir Cameron (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) was 17-22 for 259 yards and a touchdown.
Jeadi Higdon (Syracuse, NY/Corcoran) had 30 rushing yards while
Noah Kimble (Depew, NY/Lancaster) led the receiving room with five catches for 98 yards and a touchdown.
Sincere Green (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown) picked up 16 tackles including three for loss with
Xzaivion Betts (Brooklyn, NY/Abraham Lincoln) snagged his first career interception.
Union got the scoring started early in the first quarter with a rushing touchdown. The Garnet Chargers added another rushing touchdown in the second quarter and held the Bengals quiet to carry a 14-0 lead into halftime. Buffalo State came out of the break firing as Cameron found Kimble for a 53-yard score to get the Bengals on the board. The Garnet Chargers added a pair of touchdowns by the end of the third quarter to take a 28-6 lead. Union then ran out the clock in the fourth quarter and sacked Cameron on the final play to seal the win. Union totaled 372 yards of offense while the Bengals put up 311 yards.
Patch Flanagan accounted for over 250 yards of offense for Union as he threw for 131 yards with a touchdown and ran 120 yards with two touchdowns. Gil Rivera had six catches for 64 yards and a touchdown while the Union defense tallied four sacks
LAST TIME WE MET... The two sides last met a year ago as the Bengals suffered a 48-7 loss on Senior Day to the Engineers.
Amir Cameron finished the day 12-22 for 134 yards and an interception.
Cody Phillips rushed for 48 yards across 13 attempts with a long of 12.
Tyler Mills led the Bengals receivers with five catches for 58 yards. On the defensive side,
Quadir McEachin and
Sincere Green each had eight total tackles while Green had 1.5 tackles for loss and an interception.
Dominic Ferguson scored the long Bengals touchdown on a fumble recovery.
The Engineers got the scoring started early after a blocked punt that RPI was able to scoop right in the endzone. RPI marched down field on their next drive and scored following a 32-yard completion. The Engineers added a field goal to jump out to a 17-0 after the first quarter. The Bengals got back into the action early in the second quarter. Ferguson was able to scoop the loose ball and return it 55 yards for a Buffalo State touchdown. The Engineers added another touchdown to take a 24-7 lead into halftime. RPI would score 24 unanswered points in the fourth quarter as they took a knee to kill the remaining seconds on the clock and secure the win.
Anthony DeMatteo threw for 243 yards and a pir of touchdowns Paisley Nickelson had nearly 100 receiving yards with a pair of touchdowns while Nate Sicard picked up two sacks, a forced fumble, and two pass break-ups.

ABOUT THE BENGALS' COACH… Lazarus Morgan is in his fourth season at the helm of the Buffalo State football program in 2025 after being appointed as the sixth football coach in Buffalo State history in January 2022.
In his tenure at Buffalo State, the Bengals have earned 21 All-Liberty League selections and 26 Liberty League All-Academic team honorees.
He arrived in Buffalo after serving as the defensive coordinator at SUNY Cortland during the 2021 season, coordinating the fifth-ranked overall defense in NCAA Division III, helping guide the Red Dragons to an 11-1 record, an Empire 8 title, and a trip to the NCAA playoffs.
A native of the Bronx, Morgan played defensive back at Utica College from 2006-08, then began his coaching career at his alma mater from 2009-13. He then moved to Alfred University from 2014-19, serving as the Saxon's defensive coordinator in the final four seasons.
RESEARCHING RPI… RPI enters the weekend as one of the top teams in the Liberty League with a record of 4-1 (2-0 Liberty League). Last time out, the Engineers dominated Hobart with a 36-10 final.
Anthony DeMatteo has thrown for 990 yards with six touchdowns and just three interceptions. Kayden White leads the rushing room with 389 yards, 10 touchdowns, and is averaging 77.80 yards/game. On the receiving side, Paisley Nickelson has 15 catches for 214 yards.
Defensively, Matt Krauza and Miles Lafferty each have 36 total tackles with TJ Chadwick tallying three sacks on the year.
