INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE

  • In net, Alexa Todd (Owen Sound, ON/Saugeen Maitland Lightning) earned her third win of the season, recording 22 saves between the pipes.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Looking to bounce back from a tough SUNYAC opening road trip last weekend, the Bengals returned to their home ice determined to secure their first conference win of the season against the SUNY Canton Roos.
  • In the opening period, the Bengals struck first, coming out aggressively, peppering the Roos with shots and maintaining pressure in the offensive zone. Their persistence paid off with a goal in the 17th minute, sending them into the first intermission ahead by one.
  • The second period saw momentum swing towards the Roos favor, as they applied heavy pressure in the Bengals' defensive zone. Despite the attack, the Bengals found their footing and created chances of their own, with Willick netting her second goal of the night in the 12th minute to extend the lead to two. Both teams would earn power plays late in the period, but the defenses stood strong, keeping the score 2–0 at the second intermission.
  • In the third period, the Roos turned up the intensity and were rewarded with a power-play goal to cut the deficit to one. With the game tightening, both sides elevated their pace, as the Roos pushed for overtime, and the Bengals looking to close it out in regulation. In the final minutes, the Bengals sealed the win by finding the back of an empty net, securing their first SUNYAC victory of the season on home ice.
FOR THE FOES
  • Lucy Beal scored the lone goal for the Roos.
  • In net, Abby Seaman made 26 saves.
