BUFFALO, NY – Buffalo State's
Tapiwa Mushonga (Johannesburg, South Africa/Hilton College),
Sam Gregson (Anglesey, Wales/Ysgol David Hughes),
Emily Maczka (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North),
Lorelei Right (Colchester, VT/Colchester),
Gwen Jarosz (North Tonawanda, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield),
Olivia Kilmer (Hammondsport, NY/Avoca),
Isabella Melfi (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool), and
Maria Colosimo (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East) have been recognized for their outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments, earning a selection to the 2025 Men's and Women's Academic All-District Team, selected by College Sports Communicators.
To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must display combined excellence in their sport and in the classroom, maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or above through at least two full semesters at their institution, while also participating in 90%, or starting 66%, of their team's contests during the season.
Mushonga and Gregson earn a spot on the CSC Academic All-District Team for the first time in their careers. Mushonga carries a 3.54 GPA as an finance and economics major while Gregson carries a 3.58 GPA as a mechanical engineering major. Both earned a spot on the All-SUNYAC Second Team in each of the last two seasons.
All six members of the women's soccer team also earn a spot on the CSC Academic All-District Team for the first time in their careers. Kilmer and Maczka were also All-SUNYAC selections with Kilmer earning a spot on the Second Team and Maczka on the Third Team. Kilmer paced the Bengals with 19 points on nine goals and an assist wihile also carrying a 3.93 GPA as a speech pathology major. Maczka finished right behind her with a 17 point season with a 3.56 GPA as a childhood education major.
Jarosz played in all 20 games for the Bengals with two goals and two assists. In the classroom, Jarosz earned a 3.81 GPA as a mechanical engineering major. Colosimo also played in all 20 games for Buffalo State and has a 3.81 GPA as an exceptional education major.
Right and Melfi round out the field for the Bengals. Right played in 19 games for the Bengals and posted a 3.63 GPA as a health & wellness major while Melfi played in 18 games with 17 starts and a 4.00 GPA as a double major in psychology and criminal justice.
