HOW IT HAPPENED
- Entering their first SUNYAC Semifinal appearance since 2016, the No. 4-seeded Buffalo State Bengals looked to upset the top-seeded Cortland Red Dragons and advance to their first SUNYAC Championship match since that same season.
- On a rainy and cold night in Cortland, first-half play began as one might expect under such conditions, slow and methodical, as both teams searched for rhythm. The Bengals held strong through much of the half despite constant pressure from the Red Dragons, who'd broke through with a goal in the 35th minute to take a one goal lead into halftime.
- In the second half, the Bengals pressed for the equalizer, but the Red Dragons capitalized on their momentum, scoring twice in the opening ten minutes to extend the lead. The Bengals continued to fight hard throughout the half, but the Red Dragons added two more goals late to seal the result, as the Bengals fell in the SUNYAC Semifinals, concluding their 2025 campaign.
FOR THE FOES
- Piper Klammer scored a hat trick, with Katie Diem and Leah Rehm adding goals for the Red Dragons.
- In net, Olivia Rouse would claim the shutout win, making two saves.
