INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE

  • Jake Meure (Fremont, CA/Ogden Mustangs) scored the lone goal for the Bengals.
  • In net, Marcus Cumberworth (Surrey, BC/Olds Grizzlys) made the start, making 30 saves between the pipes.
  • The Bengals were outshot by the Thunder, 34–21, while winning 27 faceoffs in the faceoff circle.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • As one of the last teams to play before the December Break, the Bengals aimed to end the first half of the season on a high note. They traveled to Angola, IN, to face the Trine University Thunder in a non-conference weekend series.
  • In the first period, the Bengals faced early pressure from the Thunder's offense, as play stayed in the Bengals' defensive zone. After a tenacious start in keeping the Thunder off the board, the Bengals would return the favor as they attacked the Thunder's defensive zone and looked for the early goal advantage. This back-and-forth play would be the story of the period, before a late Thunder goal would find the Bengals playing from behind heading into the first intermission.
  • After intermission, the Thunder used their momentum to add a second goal early, widening the gap. The Bengals responded by generating scoring chances and defending well, keeping the Thunder at bay. Though the Bengals didn't score, their effort kept the game within reach heading into the second intermission.
  • In the third period, the Bengals built on their momentum and scored to bring the game within one. The Thunder responded with two goals, increasing their lead to three, and the Bengals fell to the Thunder in game one of their weekend series.

FOR THE FOES

  • Luke deVries finished the night with three points, netting a goal and adding two assists.
  • Ronnie Petrucci picked up the win between the net, making 20 saves for the Thunder.
