Men's Hockey Dominates In 8-1 Victory Over Hiram

CHAGRIN FALLS, OH – The Buffalo State men's hockey team earned a dominant 8-1 victory over the Hiram Terriers this evening at The Pond – Ice Rink & Sports Complex.

  • Tyler Penree (New Hartford, NY/Vermont Lumberjacks) picked up a pair of assists while Andrey Manov (Chelyabinsk, Russia/Blind River Beavers) notched a goal and an assist.
  • Ben Dardis (Pine Springs, MN/Olds Grizzlys) needed to make just 13 saves in net for the win while allowing just one goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bengals got off to a quick start in the opening period as Gleb Ushakov (Chelyabinsk, Russia/Oklahoma Warriors) scored his first goal as a Bengal. Vadim Kiriakov (Tyumen, Russia/Altay Ust-Kamenogorsk) stayed hot for the Bengals, scoring another power play goal later in the period before Lucas Signoretti (Ottawa, ON/Sudbury Cubs) scored to give Buffalo State an early 3-0 lead.
  • Buffalo State kept the offense going in the second period with another power play goal from Manov.
  • Later in the period, Drew MacIntyre (Sydney, NS/Miramichi Timberwolves) scored his first goal as a Bengal to extend the lead to 5-0 after two periods of play.
  • The Bengals continued their momentum into the third period as Sutton Murray (Rochester Hills, MI/Pembroke Lumber Kings) scored his first of the season, giving Buffalo State a 6-0 lead.
  • Powell scored both his goals late in the period to help solidify the win.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Sam West scored the lone goal for the Terriers with Ian Amaranto and Mark Paton combining for 41 saves in the effort.
