Men's Hockey Falls Short To Plattsburgh In Overtime

PLATTSBURGH, NY – The Buffalo State men's hockey team fell short in a comeback effort tonight as they fell to Plattsburgh in overtime with a 5-4 final at the Ronald D. Stafford Ice Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Plattsburgh jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first period on a power play opportunity.
  • The Cardinals added a pair of goals early in the second period, but Buffalo State was able to bounce-back late as Kwestel and Bizal each scored to cut the Cardinal lead to one.
  • After the Cardinals scored an empty net goal in the third period, the Bengals quickly responded with a goal to cut the lead back to one.
  • Micale then scored with just nine seconds remaining in the game to force overtime.
  • Plattsburgh scored with just under a minute left in overtime to give the Cardinals the win.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Kevin Weaver-Vitale scored the game-winning goal in overtime.
  • Jacob Hearne made 24 saves in goal in the win.
