Men's Volleyball Sweeps the Competition at Home

BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State men's volleyball team got picked another win on the season, with a clean sweep over the Thiel College Tomcats, 3-0, in the Sports Arena.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
  • Kaden Strong (Buffalo, NY/West Seneca East) had a dominating performance today with a .667 attack percentage with 12 kills. Backing him up on the offensive end was Brady Bowman (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) with 10 kills.
  • Leading the Bengals in assists was Drew Bowman (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) who dished out 35 in today's action.  
  • Alex Vega (Cambita Garabitos, Dominican Republic) would lead the Bengals with 22-digs on the defensive end.
 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In a back-and-forth first set, the Bengals would overcome a five-point rally from the Tomcats, with their own five-point rally to retake the lead. This momentum swing would help drive the Bengals past the finish line, taking the first set win over the Tomcats 25-23.
  • In the second set, the Bengals would once again find themselves going point for point with the Tomcats before a four-point rally would extend the Bengals to a 19-10 lead. After letting the Tomcats back into the set with a three-point rally, the Bengals would close the second set with a 25-19 victory…with their eyes on a sweep in the third set.
  • In the third set, the Bengals would open out to a convincing lead, going up 15-9 before a four-point rally would extend their lead to 19-10. While the Tomcats clawed back to make the third set competitive, the Bengals would hold on and finish the third set with a 25-20 win, and sweeping the Tomcats in three games.
 FOR THE FOES
  • Ezra Oesterling led the Tomcats with 11-kills in today's performance.
  • Ben Lowell led the way with 14-assists for the Tomcats.
UP NEXT
The Bengals will get a week's rest before returning back to the Sports Arena as the host their latest invite with Nazareth University, Penn State-Behrend and Hobart College next Saturday, February 22nd with the first game taking place at 4:00 P.M.
