Men's Hockey Earns 4-3 Victory Over Fredonia

BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State men's hockey team earned a 4-3 win over the Fredonia Blue Devils tonight at the Ice Arena to close out the regular season.

  • Jason Kwestel (Rockaway, NJ/Valley Wildcats) paced the Bengals with a pair of goals and an assist.
  • Vadim Kiriakov (Tyumen, Russia/Altay Ust-Kamenogorsk) had a goal and two assists.
  • Tyler Penree (New Hartford, NY/Vermont Lumberjacks) also scored for the Bengals with four other Bengals picking up a point.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Buffalo State jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as Kwestel scored on a power play opportunity.
  • The Blue Devils tied the game early in the second period, however, Kwestel answered just ten seconds later to give Buffalo State the lead again.
  • Fredonia would add another goal before the end of the period to make the score 2-2 entering the final 20 minutes of play.
  • Penree broke the tie in the third with his second goal of the season.
  • Shortly after, Kiriakov scored on another power play opportunity for the Bengals to make the game 4-2.
  • The Blue Devils scored again to put pressure on the Bengals, however, the Buffalo State defense was able to hold strong to secure the win.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Antonie St. Onge tallied a goal and an assist.
  • Charles-Anthony Barbeau made 25 saves in the effort.
 
UP NEXT
The Bengals return to action on Wednesday as they will host the first round of the SUNYAC Playoffs as the three-seed.
