HOW IT HAPPENED
- Making their last stop of their 2024-25 season, the Bengals entered Potsdam with high hopes in ending their season with a win. Opening the first quarter, things leaned in the Bengals favor, opening the game with a 7-0 run to take the early lead over the Bears. As play continued, the Bengals stood strong with great defensive play while creating steady chances on offense. This play would give the Bengals a nine-point lead as the first quarter ended.
- In the second quarter, the Bengals would maintain their high level of play and energy, going up double-digits on the Bears. As the Bears would respond baskets, so would the Bengals, who kept their foot on the pedal and entered halftime leading by ten-points.
- As the third quarter began, the Bengals faced a new Bears team out the half. Opening the quarter on a 8-0 run, the Bengals would see the double-digit lead collapse into a two-possession game with the Bears taking the momentum. As play continued in the quarter, points would come as a premium for the Bengals with the Bears defense locking-up the Bengals chances on defensive end, while creating looks for themselves on the offensive end. With the quarter closing and the fourth quarter near, the Bengals would find themselves trailing by four-points.
- With ten minutes remaining of their season, the Bengals looked to make push to steal a win from the Bears. Things would be tricky as the Bears opened the quarter with back-to-back baskets, increasing their lead to nine points. However, the Bengals never quit in this one as they made things difficult for the Bears on the defensive end. This would lead to the Bengals to get within one-point with the final minute of play left in this game. The Bengals push would only bring them within that one-point, as the Bears would close the door on the Bengals on offense and sneak out with a four-point win over the Bengals.
FOR THE FOES
- Barbara Bruno led the Bears with 16-points and eight rebounds.
