Indoor Track And Field Has Strong Showing At SUNYAC Championships

BROCKPORT, NY – The Buffalo State indoor track and field teams finished SUNYAC Indoor Championships today where the men finished fifth overall (47 points) and the women finished fourth overall (52 points).

The Bengal Breakdown
  • Natalia Sawyer (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) earned three individual wins for the Bengals while also taking home the Women's Most Valuable Performer of the Meet.
  • Sawyer crossed the line first in the 60-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash, and 400-meter while also setting the meet record in the 400-meter with a time of 56.58 seconds.
  • Makhia Laster (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry Charter) and Sidney Morris (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East) also took home individual titles as Laster won the long jump at 5.53 meters while Morris won the 800-meter run at 1:57.11.
  • Laster later went on to finish second in the 60-meter sprint.
  • Jalil Coppedge (Bronx, NY/Ralph R. McKee) shined in his SUNYAC Championship debut taking home second in the 60-meter hurdles with a school record time of 8.37 seconds.
  • Xzavier Goodman (Buffalo, NY/Olmstead) added to his hardware from last night with a second place finish in the shot put at 15.85 meters.
 
UP NEXT
The Bengals will compete at AARTFC Regionals next weekend at Ithaca for those who have qualified.
