Alex Vega Named To AVCA All-Region II Team

BUFFALO, NY - Alex Vega (Cambita Garabitos, Dominican Republic) of the Buffalo State men's volleyball team has been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region II Team. Vega is the first Bengal in program history to earn All-Region recognition.

Vega has been a staple for the Buffalo State defense in his first season with the Bengals. The junior libero played in 97 sets across the season accumulating 330 digs, averaging 3.40 digs per set, and a .968 reception percentage. Vega also finished first in the AMCC in total digs and digs per set and was twice named the AMCC Defensive Player of the Week. He also played a crucial role for the Bengals as they won their first AMCC Championship in program history and earned their first bid into the NCAA Tournament.

The men's volleyball team will open the NCAA Tournament on Thursday as they will battle Baruch College.
