BUFFALO, NY – The #16 Buffalo State men's soccer team opened the season with a 2-0 shutout over the New Jersey City University Gothic Knights on Coyer Field.

- Sam Gregson (Anglesey, Wales/Ysgol David Hughes) and Diego Rivera (East Meadow, NY/Cairo Durham) each scored for the Bengals.
- Aney Djadou (Buffalo, NY/Amherst) and Isaac Felder (Oak Park, IL/Oak Park River Forest) each picked up an assist.
- Carson Smith (Big Flats, NY/Horseheads) needed to make just one save in goal to preserve the shutout in his Bengal debut.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bengals got the scoring started late in the first half. After a pair of yellow cards from NJCU, Gregson found a loose ball in front of the net to give Buffalo State an early 1-0 lead.
- Rivera added an insurance goal late in the second half to put the game away for the Bengals.
- Buffalo State dominated much of the matchup allowing just four shots with just one on goal while posting 17 of their own.
FOR THE FOES
- Jona Caballero paced the Gothic Knights with three shots and a shot on goal.
- Camilo Pascual Verdu recorded seven saves in net in the effort.
