BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State men's soccer team cruised to their first SUNYAC win of the season, shutting out the SUNY Potsdam Bears, 6–0, at home on Coyer Field.

- Diego Rivera (East Meadow, NY/Cairo Durham) put on an offensive showcase, scoring five goals in today's contest, finishing just two shy of the Buffalo State men's soccer program record for goals in a single game. Rivera also added an assist on Aney Djadou's (Buffalo, NY/Amherst) second-half goal.
- It was a total team effort for the Bengals, as Joseph Desmonie (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane), Salvador Gomes (Lisbon, Portugal/Colegio de S. Thomas), Isaac Felder (Oak Park, IL/Oak Park River Forest), Zaccaria Gerosa (New York, NY/U. of Nebraska HS), and Faisal Samim (Baldwinsville, NY/Liverpool) each recorded an assist.
- In net, Carson Smith (Big Flats, NY/Horseheads) earned a full-game shutout, making three saves to secure the clean sheet.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Opening SUNYAC play, the Buffalo State Bengals entered their matchup with the SUNY Potsdam Bears ready to make a statement. From the opening whistle, the Bengals dictated the pace, breaking through in the 18th minute with a goal from Rivera. That early strike was only the beginning of a dominant half, as Rivera went on a tear, netting four more goals before halftime and closing the chapter on the Bears in this contest. With the first-half whistle blowing, the Bengals entered the break with a commanding 5-0 lead, courtesy of Rivera's offensive explosion.
- The second half followed a similar script, with Rivera shifting into playmaker mode. A great pass led to another Bengals goal in the 53rd minute, sealing the win. Behind a strong defensive effort and steady goalkeeping, the Bengals cruised to its first SUNYAC victory of the 2025 season.

- Cristiano Lozier, Luke Tytler, and Kyan Tiede each registered a shot for the Bears.
- Goalkeeper James Kelm played the full 90 minutes, making three saves in net.
