HOW IT HAPPENED
- Continuing their road warrior mentality following a team win over Nazareth University, the Buffalo State Bengals traveled to Ohio to take part in the John Carroll Tri-Match, opening play against the Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops. The opening set began as a back-and-forth affair before the Bengals found their rhythm, going on a nine-point run to take control. Despite a late push from the Bishops, the Bengals responded with back-to-back rallies to close out the first set in convincing fashion.
-
In the second set, the Bengals aimed to repeat their early success, but the Bishops capitalized on the Bengals miscues to build an early advantage. The Bengals clawed their way back, but the Bishops held strong down the stretch to even the match at one set apiece.
-
The third set featured high-level play from both sides, trading points and momentum throughout. After the Bengals strung together six straight points, the Bishops responded with a four-point rally of their own to take the lead. However, the Bengals composure shone through, with strong defense and timely offense helping them secure the third set and regain the match lead.
-
The fourth set proved to be the most competitive of the day. With neither team giving an inch, the score knotted at 20-20 before the Bengals pulled ahead with a three-point burst. The Bishops answered with a rally of its own, eventually taking the final three points to steal the set and force a decisive fifth.
-
In the final frame, the Bengals battled back from an early deficit to tie things at 10-10, but the Bishops managed three straight points to close out the contest, handing the Bengals a hard-fought five-set loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-
After an intense five-set battle with the Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops earlier in the day, the Buffalo State Bengals looked to respond strongly in their matchup against the John Carroll Blue Streaks. The opening set was controlled by the Blue Streaks from start to finish. Despite a few scoring runs from the Bengals, the Blue Streaks maintained momentum throughout. A late Bengals push cut the deficit to seven, but the Blue Streaks held firm to take the first set.
-
The second set mirrored much of the first, as the Bengals struggled to find rhythm against a surging Blue Streaks attack. A four-point rally by the Blue Streaks opened the gap to double digits, and the Bengals couldn't recover as the Blue Streaks closed out the set comfortably.
-
The Bengals came alive in the third set, matching the Blue Streaks point for point in one of the most competitive stretches of the match. After the Blue Streaks used a six-point rally to take the lead, the Bengals responded with back-to-back four-point surges to bring the score within reach. With the set tied at 20-20, both teams traded rallies, but the Blue Streaks ultimately hit the magic number "25" to seal the third set and the match sweep over the Bengals.
