BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State men's volleyball team already established themselves as a premier volleyball destination in their third season year of existence. Reigning-AMCC Coach of the Year
Daniel Miranda led the Bengals to a perfect 6-0 regular season conference record, an AMCC Championship, and an NCAA Tournament berth after posting a phenomenal 2025 campaign. As they set to embark on their 2026 season this weekend at the Hobart Tournament, Miranda and his squad look to keep the momentum going.
The Bengals set multiple program records in 2025 while also showcasing their talents as a high-end program. The Bengals saw team program records for wins (21), longest win streak (11), kills (1,400), assists (1,294), and digs (1,264). Buffalo State lost just three sets all season in conference play, including the playoffs, as they swept Mount Aloysius and Penn State Behrend in the AMCC Tournament to earn the conference crown.
Individually, the Bengals saw four players earn AMCC All-Conference with two of them back for another season in
Kaden Strong (Buffalo, NY/West Seneca East) and
Drew Bowman (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park). Strong finished third on the team last season with 224 kills and a .371 hitting percentage while also leading the team with 71 total blocks. Bowman posted a strong debut season for the Bengals with 667 assists, averaging nearly ten assists per set, and 124 digs: good for second on the team. Also, among those returning for the Bengals is
Gavin Wilczewski (East Aurora, NY/East Aurora),
DeAngelo D'Aloise (Lockport, NY/Starpoint),
Hayden McCue (Fairport, NY/Fairport) and
Jackson Stang (Tonawanda, NY/Sweet Home)
After opening the season at the Hobart Tournament, the Bengals will continue on the road to open the season before their home opener against St. John Fisher on February 6. AMCC competition will begin on February 10 at Houghton with the postseason beginning on April 8.
The Buffalo State men's volleyball team has set the bar high following their second season of competition. After their first year in the AMCC proved to be a success, the Bengals will aim to be a constant contender in the conference and make their presence known in the NCAA Tournament.
