GAME BASICS

FINAL SCORE: SUNY Oneonta – 74, Buffalo State – 53
LOCATION: Sports Arena – Buffalo, NY
RECORDS: Buffalo State: 5-8 (1-5 SUNYAC), SUNY Oneonta: 7-6 (5-1 SUNYAC)

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
  • Chisom Ani (Elmont, NY/John Browne) led the Bengals with 11 points on 4-7 shooting and grabbed a team-high six rebounds. Jacob Opare (Bronx, NY/St. Raymond) added five rebounds.
  • As a team, the Bengals shot 30.8% from the field, 16.7% from beyond the arc, and 72.0% from the free-throw line.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After splitting their last two road SUNYAC matchups, the Bengals returned to the Sports Arena hoping to secure a home win as they hosted the SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons.
  • In the first half, both teams traded baskets before falling into an 11-11 deadlock, as defense made scoring tough to come by. A 9-0 run from the Red Dragons would propel them past the Bengals at the midway point of the half, putting the Bengals at a seven-point deficit. As halftime neared, the Bengals would struggle to contain the Red Dragons' scoring affair and would trail by double digits heading into halftime.
  • In the second half, the Bengals clawed their way back into this matchup, forcing pressure on the Red Dragons in their own end and chipping away at the two-possession deficit. However, the Red Dragons would crack the Bengals' pressure, finding plays in transition and knocking down some threes to bring the game back to a double-digit deficit. While the fight was there for the Bengals, a comeback would fall short, as they would fall at home to the Red Dragons in this SUNYAC matchup.
FOR THE FOES
  • Cam LaClair led all scorers with 24 points, with Nicholas Cortez finishing with 17 points.
  • As a team, the Red Dragons shot 52.7% from the floor and 76.9% from the free-throw line.
