GENEVA, NY – The Buffalo State men's volleyball team completed a 4-0 weekend after picking up a pair of huge wins against #20 Misericordia and #16 Hobart today to close out the Hobart Tournament.
GAME ONE BASICS

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Gavin Wilczewski (East Aurora, NY/East Aurora) led the Bengals with 19 kills and a .412 hitting percentage.
- Drew Bowman (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) dished out 34 assists while Brady Bowman (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) had 11 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After back-and-forth for much of the first set, the Bengals rallied to score five of the final seven points; capped-off with a kill from Wilczewski.
- The Cougars bounced back to eventually take the second set after a service error from Buffalo State.
- After a competitive third set, the Bengals caught fire late and scored five of the final six sets as they entered the decisive fourth set.
- Buffalo State and the Cougars continued their back and forth trend in the final set of action. Following a service error from the Bengals, the team rallied back to score three straight points to earn the win.
FOR THE FOES
- Chris U'Glay had 13 kills for Misericordia while Andrew George had 20 assists for the Cougars.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Kieran Eagen (Buffalo, NY/West Seneca West) and Wilczewski paced the Bengals with 13 and 12 kills, respectively. For Eagen, 13 kills was a new career-high.
- Drew Bowman registered 38 assists while Eagen also added 13 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a late rally from Hobart, the Statesmen took the opening set of action.
- Buffalo State responded with a fast start in the second set before scoring four of the final five points to even things at one set apiece.
- Hobart responded with a fast start of their own in the third set. The Statesmen eventually scored four straight points to win the set.
- The Bengals would not go down without a fight as they rallied to force a deciding fifth set.
- After a 4-0 start from Hobart, the Bengals caught fire as they rallied back to secure their first win over Hobart in their three seasons of action.
FOR THE FOES
- Daniel Sappia had 13 kills for the Statesmen with Zack Farren and Charlie Dugan each posting 21 assists.

The Bengals return to action next weekend at the Potsdam Invite where they will battle the Bears and Regis College.
