HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After falling in a hard-fought battle last night against the Oswego State Lakers, the Bengals looked to rebound in their latest SUNYAC opportunity, playing host to the SUNY Canton Roos.
  • As the first half play began, both teams would trade baskets, with the advantage going to the Bengals with some hot shooting from beyond the three-point arc. After the Roos tied this matchup midway through the half, the Bengals used some advantageous rim running to gain multiple free throw chances from the charity strike line and walked into halftime with a five-point lead over the Roos.
  • In the second half, the Roos would come out of the gates fast, taking advantage of some Bengals' mistakes and going on a 7-0 run to bring this matchup back even. However, the Bengals would respond with an 8-0 run to keep their distance from the Roos as play continued. While the Roos attempted to get the Bengals on their heels, it wouldn't be enough as the Bengals used to some last-minute stops to hold onto their lead and pick up a much-needed SUNYAC win on their home floor.
FOR THE FOES
  • Lateef Johnson Jr. led all scorers with 20 points, while Jahdeuir Reese finished the night with 18 points.
  • As a team, SUNY Canton shot 42.4% from the floor, 42.9% from beyond the three-point line, and 75.0% from the free-throw line.
