HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a SUNYAC win over the SUNY Morrisville Mustangs yesterday, the Bengals aimed to sweep the weekend. They hosted the Cortland Red Dragons in the Ice Arena.
  • In the opening period, the Bengals leaned on their defense as the Red Dragons attacked early. The Bengals scored the first goal and entered the first intermission with an early lead.
  • In the second period, the Bengals kept up their attack on the Red Dragons' defense. They netted back-to-back goals midway through the period to take a three-goal lead. However, the Red Dragons responded with three unanswered goals to end the period and sent the matchup tied into the second intermission.
  • In the third period, the Red Dragons continued their scoring streak by adding two more goals to start the period and taking the lead. The Bengals found the net late in the period. However, they could not find the equalizer and fell to the Red Dragons in this tough SUNYAC battle.
FOR THE FOES
  • Kira Cook and Katie Mahoney led the Red Dragons with two goals each.
  • Isabelle Deutz picked up the win in net for the Red Dragons, making 16 saves.
