HOW IT HAPPENED
- Returning to Coyer Field after picking up their first win of the season last week against Hilbert College, the Bengals looked to keep the ball rolling with the Ithaca College Bombers coming to town.
- The Bengals struggled against the stout Bombers defense to open the game, punting on three of their first five possessions, with the other two ending in turnovers on downs. The Bombers took full advantage of the Bengals' struggles, scoring on each of their first three possessions, including a 42-yard touchdown pass late in the first quarter.
- However, the Bengals found some daylight before the end of the half, punching it into the end zone to get on the board, but still trailed by double digits heading into the halftime break.
- Exiting halftime, the Bengals tried to find some rhythm to keep pace with the Bombers offense, but a strong performance from the Ithaca defense kept them at bay. After finding the end zone once again late in the third quarter, the Bengals saw their scoring chances limited by the Bombers, who scored on the remainder of their possessions to down the Bengals on Coyer Field.
FOR THE FOES
- Michael Reed led the Bombers with 204 yards passing and three touchdowns, while five different Bombers scored a rushing touchdown, including Chase Myers, who finished with two rushing touchdowns on 50 yards.
- Davin Foote led the Bombers with seven total tackles, including a half-sack, while Collin Leonhardt led the team with 1.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.
