INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
  • Mya Brown (Buffalo, NY/Frontier) had another strong performance for the Bengals, leading the team with 14 points on 7-13 shooting from the field. Outside of Brown, Chyann Kelly (Bailey, CO/Platte Canyon) chipped in with 11 points.
  • Three different Bengals led in the rebound department, as Brown, Isabella Shenandoah-Kurtz (LaFayette, NY/LaFayette), and Emily Delisle (Mechanicville, NY/Shenendehowa) each finished with six boards. Naya Haymon (Homewood, IL/Homewood-Flossmoor) led the Bengals with six assists, finishing her lone season with the Bengals with 100+ total assists.
  • As a team, the Bengals shot 28.8% from the floor, 20.0% from beyond the three-point line, and 12.5% from the free-throw line.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Entering their final regular season game of the season, the Bengals looked to add one more 'W' into the win column as they took on the Oswego State Lakers.
  • In the opening quarter, both teams started slowly, with the first basket coming after three minutes. After exchanging baskets for a stretch, another defensive battle ensued as both sides embraced the slow pace of play. A last-minute stretch would find the Bengals chasing in on back-to-back baskets to take the lead, before the Lakers would hit a late three-pointer, as both teams entered the second quarter tied up.
  • As strong as the Bengals played in the first quarter, the Lakers answered back and stole the momentum, opening the second quarter with a 10-0 run to take the lead. As the Bengals fought off their double-digit deficit, shots would be hard to come by as the Lakers ramped up their defensive effort. As the halftime buzzer sounded, the Bengals would find themselves down by double-digits walking into halftime.
  • Exiting the halftime break, the Bengals slowed the pace of this matchup once again, responding with a stronger defensive effort and limiting the Lakers' offensive chances. However, the Lakers would do the same, holding the Bengals offensive chances and keeping the Bengals deficit to double digits heading into the fourth quarter.
  • In the fourth quarter, the Bengals would find some success on offense, with that quarter their highest-scoring output in this matchup. The Bengals fought for much of the quarter, not giving up until the final buzzer sounded, but fell in their season finale on the road to the Lakers.
FOR THE FOES
  • Zhane Holmes led all players with 26 points. Giavanna White-Principio also led all players with 15 rebounds.
  • As a team, the Lakers shot 43.1% from the field, 32.0% from behind the three-point line, and 66.7% from the free-throw line.
