HOW IT HAPPENED
- After tripping up last night against the New Paltz Hawks, the Bengals returned to action with a SUNYAC matchup against the SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons this afternoon.
- In the first half, both sides showed strong play as points were traded at a premium for much of the half. An early Bengals lead was returned by a mini–Red Dragons run to take the lead in this one. At the midway point, the Red Dragons would hold on to their lead as the Bengals fought back to keep themselves in this matchup, and that fight was rewarded as the Bengals trailed by two possessions heading into halftime.
- In the second half, the Bengals responded with a 7-0 run to regain the lead over the Red Dragons. As the Red Dragons responded to retake the lead, the Bengals kept the fight going as both sides returned to trading baskets. However, back-to-back 7-0 runs would increase the Bengals deficit to double digits late in this half…as the Red Dragons would pull away from the Bengals, dropping them on the road in this contest.
FOR THE FOES
- Nicholas Cortez led all scorers with 20 points, while Nate Cohen finished with 11 points.
- As a team, the Red Dragons shot 46.3% from the field, 30.8% from beyond the arc, and 59.1% from the free-throw line.
