HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Celebrating the 'Senior Day, ' the Bengals looked to score a big win for their Seniors as they returned home on Coyer Field and hosted the SUNY Canton Roos.
  • In the first quarter, the Bengals fell behind early after the Roos scored back-to-back goals. Mistakes and penalties by the Bengals slowed the pace, putting pressure on their defense to withstand the Roos' early attack and give their team a chance to close the deficit. The defense responded, and as momentum shifted, the Bengals' offense netted back-to-back goals to tie the game heading into the second quarter.
  • With momentum on their side, the Bengals continued their offensive surge, scoring five goals in the first ten minutes of the second quarter to reclaim their edge. Though the Roos added two goals to chip away at the Bengals' lead, the Bengals responded with two more, taking a five-goal advantage into halftime.
  • Exiting the halftime break, the Bengals kept their foot on the pedal in this SUNYAC matchup, outshooting the Roos 9-4 in the quarter and, most importantly, outscoring them, 4-0, as the Bengals defense shut down the Roos' attack. This four-goal quarter would give the Bengals a nine-goal advantage as play entered the final quarter.
  • In the fourth quarter, the Roos wouldn't go away easily, adding three goals and making things tighter for the Bengals. However, the Bengals responded with two goals to close out the quarter, cruising to a 'Senior Day' win over the Roos.
FOR THE FOES
  • Ava Bodnar led the Roos with three points, scoring two goals and an assist.
  • Laura Falandys made four saves in the net for the Roos.
