Ricky Curiel And Bryan Honan Named Bengal Athletes Of The Week

BUFFALO, NY – Ricky Curiel (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) and Bryan Honan (Cortland, NY/Cortland) of the Buffalo State outdoor track & field team have been named Bengal Athletes of the Week, presented by UBMD Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.

Curiel, a freshman electrical engineering major, had an impressive start to his collegiate outdoor career at the Widener Invite as he broke the school record in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 31:24.81, good for an eighth-place finish. His time broke the previous school record by nearly a full minute that had been held by Tom Proctor since 2001.

Honan, a sophomore mechanical engineering major, also had a strong start to the outdoor campaign as he broke his own school record in the hammer throw from last season with a mark of 55.44-meters, good for a sixth-place finish overall at the meet out of over 30 throwers. Honan also competed in the discus throw for Buffalo State.

The outdoor track & field team returns to action on Saturday as they will compete at the Geneseo Invite.
