Gavin Wilczewski Named AVCA Second Team All-America

BUFFALO, NY – Gavin Wilczewski (East Aurora, NY/East Aurora) of the Buffalo State men's volleyball team has been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America Second Team. He is the first player in program history to earn the honor and is the second Buffalo State student-athlete to earn All-America honors this year (Diego Rivera, Men's Soccer).

Wilczewski was a driving force Buffalo State this season tallying 373 kills with a .323 hitting percentage, 49 service aces, 46 assists, 200 digs, and 41 blocks across 113 sets played. He was second in the conference in kills and kills per set, and third in hitting percentage. Wilczewski had three straight matches with over 20 kills against St. John Fisher, Thiel, and Nazareth early in the season and set the program-record for kills in a season, service aces, and points. He also matched the program-record for most kills in a five-set match with 22 against St. John Fisher and again against Mount Union. Wilczewski was also named the AMCC Player of the Year, AMCC First Team All-Conference, AVCA All-Region II, and a spot on the All-Regional Tournament Team following the opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament.

The men's volleyball team finished the season with a record of 29-5 (12-0 AMCC) after winning back-to-back AMCC Championships. The Bengals won their first NCAA Tournament game in program history against New Jersey City before falling to #1 Springfield in four sets in the next round.
