ONEONTA, NY– The Buffalo State softball team dropped both matchups in their SUNYAC opener with the Oneonta Red Dragons today on the Red Dragon Softball Field.
GAME ONE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Oneonta – 5, Buffalo State – 1

RECORDS: Oneonta: 3-16 (1-0 SUNYAC), Buffalo State: 10-5 (0-1 SUNYAC)
INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Ashley Jedrich (Victor, NY/Victor) and Lexi Quagliana (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) each tallied a hit.
- Izzy Pezdek (Lancaster, NY/Grand Island) took the loss on the mound after five innings with four strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After no score through the first two innings of action, Oneonta hit the scoreboard first as they capitalized on an error from the Bengals to score a run.
- The Bengals rallied in the fifth inning and evened the score on a wild pitch that brought home Natalie Burck (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville North).
- In the bottom half of the inning, the Red Dragons rallied for four runs following a two-run double and a two-run single.
- Oneonta was able to shut down the Bengals the last two innings to earn the game one win.
FOR THE FOES
- Emily Brown tallied three hits while Anna Torgersen put up a strong showing on the mound, going five innings with six strikeouts.

RECORDS: Oneonta: 4-16 (2-0 SUNYAC), Buffalo State: 10-6 (0-2 SUNYAC)
INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE
- Jedrich and Erin Paolilli (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) each had two hits while Paolilli drove in four runs.
- Madison Lucas (Oakdale, PA/West Allegheny) took the loss on the mound after two innings allowing four runs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Oneonta opened the scoring in game two with a four run first inning. The Bengals scored three runs in the top of the third after a hit from Pezdek and a two-run single from Paolilli.
- The Red Dragons responded immediately in the bottom of the third with three more runs.
- Despite some late pressure from the Bengals, Oneonta was able to tame Buffalo State to sweep the second game.
FOR THE FOES
- Jamie Cardello had three hits for the Red Dragons.
