CORTLAND, NY – The Buffalo State men's and women's outdoor track & field team opened SUNYAC Championships today as
Ricky Curiel (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) earned his first career SUNYAC Championship in the 10,000-meter run.
THE BENGAL BREAKDOWN
- Curiel won the 10,000-meter with a time of 32:05.69 to earn his first SUNYAC title. Josh Mayer (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) finished sixth in the race at 33:46.53.
- Natalia Sawyer (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) cruised in the prelims of the 400-meter hurdles and will be the top seed at finals tomorrow with a time of 1:01.51.
- Jalil Coppedge (Bronx, NY/Ralph R. McKee) and Julius Arias (Lackawanna, NY/Lackawanna) each earned a spot back at finals tomorrow in the 110-meter hurdles.
- Terrell Price (Depew, NY/Depew) will compete in finals in the 400-meter tomorrow after running 49.74 in the prelims.
- Nyla Wilson-Epps (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry) was fifth in the hammer throw with a mark of 48.01 meters following her last throw.
- The trio of Sidney Morris (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East), Luke Triplet (Depew, NY/Depew), and Andy Flores-Cadiz (Honolulu, HI/Wesley Chapel) will all race at finals in the 800-meter tomorrow after all placing in the top eight in prelims.
- Coppedge and Nolan Lyon (North Tonawanda, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) will race finals of the 400-meter hurdles tomorrow.
- Bryan Honan (Cortland, NY/Cortland) was second in the hammer throw with a school record mark of 58.74 meters. Ethan Mitrano (Penfield, NY/Penfield) was sixth at 53.26 meters.
UP NEXT
The Bengals will return to action next weekend at SUNYAC Championships hosted at SUNY Cortland. The men currently sit in third with 24 points and the women are ninth with four points.
